Homemade peanut butter dog treats make a delightful Christmas gift for your canine companion. This simple four-ingredient recipe is easy to prepare and gentle on puppy tummies.

I recently welcomed my first puppy, Hudson, a golden retriever, and naturally I began baking dog-friendly treats. Growing up with goldens and missing a four-legged friend after moving from Connecticut to Charlotte, getting Hudson felt like the perfect excuse to experiment in the kitchen.
Hudson arrived right after Thanksgiving and quickly became part of my holiday routine. I made these peanut butter dog biscuits in festive shapes using mini Christmas cookie cutters, and he couldn’t get enough of them.

The recipe highlights peanut butter—one of Hudson’s favorite flavors—alongside pumpkin purée, which is gentle on digestion. Whole wheat flour adds fiber and the eggs supply protein. Together they create a wholesome, tasty biscuit your dog will enjoy.
For holiday treats, roll the dough and cut shapes with Christmas cookie cutters—trees, stars, snowflakes, candy canes, and more. Off-season, a circle cutter or traditional biscuit shape works well too.
These biscuits are great for training rewards or as an everyday “good boy” treat. If your dog is sensitive to gluten, swap whole wheat for oat flour to make a gluten-free version.

If your pup has known allergies or dietary restrictions, consult your veterinarian before introducing new treats.

Ingredients
- ⅔ cup pumpkin puree
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups whole wheat flour or oat flour
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
-
In a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs on medium-high until combined, about 1–2 minutes. Gradually add 2½ cups of flour on low speed, mixing until incorporated. Add the remaining flour 1/4 cup at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.
-
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 3–4 times until it comes together. Roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters. Transfer shapes to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20–25 minutes. Allow the treats to cool completely before offering them to your pet.
